A work in Progress

Every day is a new day to strive and become a better person than I was yesterday.

An easier life

We are gifted with the brain power to have hundreds of thoughts race through our heads in a matter of seconds. These thoughts range in their services to our overall well-being. Some thoughts complicate an already complicated situation; I call that overthinking. Some open doors to the fear of the unknown using doubts as its choice of fuel. Some can even incapacitate us and cast a shadow over all that we do. This is how powerful our minds can be. The question then is, how can we use this miraculous tool that is at our disposal to our advantage?

One of the many answers I learned is to take control of what goes into and out of our minds. If that seems impossible at first, we could filter out the thoughts we want to spend time with as we let them marinate inside our minds. If this is hard too, we can then choose to respond in a way that is advantageous to our wellbeing. Meaning, how we respond to those thoughts can be the key to living an easier and more meaningful life.

I have a quote on my living room wall to remind myself that I am in charge of my life. The quote – I coined – says more or less, “you can’t live your days according to your feelings.” Feelings change according to circumstances and happiness is relative. Letting those feelings map my days, I consider it a betrayal I should never commit against myself.

Take control of your feelings and if not, at least control how you respond to daily stimuli that are threatening to steal your time and wellbeing. Discomfort is part of life so welcome it and learn by letting yourself figure out how to get past it by first getting through it.

Conquer your mind to claim your life.
